March 2009Texas Attorney General’s Office seeks volunteers for their Lubbock Child Support Offices. Volunteers have the opportunity to impact the lives of children in Lubbock and the surrounding area by volunteering at one of the two Lubbock Child Support Offices. The two combined offices handle more than 32,000 – 33,000 child support cases.
The Attorney General’s Child Support Division is directed by state and federal law to assist Texas families who currently receive or have received public assistance and families who require child support services. Services focus on locating absent parents; establishing paternity of a child born to unmarried parents; establishing, enforcing and modifying child and medical support orders; and collecting and distributing child support payments.
Each year, volunteers across the state assist the Office of the Attorney General to serve Texas families and children more efficiently and effectively. Volunteering can be beneficial to people from various walks of life including individuals seeking new job skills, student-interns seeking to satisfy course requirements, retirees and other Texans who simply want to give back to their communities.
Volunteers are needed in 3-4 hour shifts, 2 days/week, anytime Monday through Friday during the 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workday. Duties could include data entry, filing and assisting child support officers. If you are interested in impacting children’s lives, please
contact the RSVP office at 743-RSVP (7787) for more information.
