RSVP VOICE!  By Karon McDowell, Director

Volunteer Opportunities:

South Plains Food Bank

For 30 years, the South Plains Food Bank has been working to feed the hungry, giving hope and helping people get back on their feet.

Hundreds of churches and social service agencies partner with the food bank to provide food for thousands of people in 21 counties in the South Plains area.

They operate pantries, soup kitchens, senior citizen centers, produce drops and kids cafes, distributing millions of pounds of food.

Volunteers donate time each year to make food boxes, serve food, organize food drives, help grow and harvest apples and vegetables, and work with young people and families in need.

Without volunteers, SPFB could not fulfill its mission of serving the ever increasing number of hungry people in our area.

If you would like to learn more about the programs and services offered by the South Plains Food Bank and see the warehouse in operation, you are invited to a lunch and tour, offered at noon on the third Thursday of every month, Aug. 15; Sept. 19; Oct. 17; Nov. 21; Dec. 19.

There is no charge for the lunch, but please RSVP to let them know you will be attending. Call 763-3003 or register online at www.SPFB.org. Volunteers can serve at both the food bank and the Carolyn Lanier Farm.
