Volunteer Opportunities

Silver Star Health Network offers the PACE program, a program of all-inclusive care for the elderly.

The PACE program has been in Lubbock for three years and is sponsored by StarCare Specialty Health System, formerly known as Lubbock Regional MHMR.

Silver Star Health Network serves individuals 55 and older by providing solutions to keep the family together and keep the elderly member in the community instead of sending them to a nursing home.

This program of all-inclusive care for the elderly provides comprehensive medical services including physician services, prescription medications, hospitalizations, skilled nursing care, and social services.

Silver Star also provides home health care and covers the member’s transportation to medical appointments and visits to the Day Health and Wellness Center, a fully-staffed medical clinic.

Stop in or call 806-543-0497 for your tour of Silver Star, complimentary coffee, and brochure by our own Silver Star Marketing Coordinator, Megan Vercellino.
Call or email mvercell@silverstar.org for directions. Silver Star is located at 4010 22nd Street, Lubbock 79408-2828.

SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, growing and achieving their goals through education and mentorship. They have been doing this good work for nearly 50 years.

SCORE matches retired volunteers with small businesses that need expert advice.  Anyone who has had experience owning or managing a small business may volunteer time to help today’s generation of fledgling entrepreneurs.

SCORE counselors provide one-on-one or team counseling to people who want to start a business or are in business and need help.

Every effort is made to match a client’s needs with a counselor experienced in the appropriate line of business. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help people solve a cash flow problem, help design a marketing plan for a new venture, help new products get off the ground, etc.

SCORE volunteers may help business owners and managers identify basic management problems, determine the causes and become better managers.

Management counseling takes place either at a client’s business or at the SCORE chapter location in the Small Business Administration offices in the Federal Building, 1205 Texas Avenue, Suite 411D.

If you could donate a couple of hours a week to share your experience and knowledge with another small business owner or manager, please contact the RSVP office, and let us set you up as a SCORE volunteer.

If you would like to know more about Lubbock RSVP, please call the Lubbock RSVP office at 743-7787.

Today is a good day to volunteer!

How do I join RSVP?

Becoming a member of RSVP is simple as long as you are at least 55 and have some time to volunteer. Just call the office at 743-77873 and chat with Karon McDowell about your interests. If you are not certain what you would like to do, we can mention several current volunteer opportunities and send you a list of the sort of jobs which RSVP members are presently doing to whet your appetite. If you have a special skill or talent that you would like to utilize, we will search to find just the right job for you. Just mail in the enrollment form (requires Adobe Reader) and we will call you!
