Volunteer Opportunities
Interim Hospice Seeks Helpers
Interim Healthcare Hospice is looking for volunteers who have tender, compassionate hearts.
Do you like to talk on the phone? The agency would like a volunteer to call patients (or their caregivers) every Thursday as a pre-weekend supply check. Interim provides a place to work, phones, and a patient list with a short set of questions.
The time commitment is 2-4 hours in the morning or afternoon every Thursday. A three-month commitment is requested. All volunteers will be screened and trained.
Interim Hospice would also like volunteers to provide breaks for caregivers in their home who are taking care of a loved one on hospice. They want volunteers to provide a caring presence for their patients while the caregiver runs errands, goes grocery shopping, or has a few hours to do whatever they want.
Some patients enjoy conversation with someone new, while others may sleep. Patients who need caring help are located in Lubbock and the surrounding communities. The time commitment is 2-5 hours at a time agreed upon by the volunteer and the family. No nursing or personal patient care skills are needed, and all volunteers will be screened and trained.
Health & Human Services
Health and Human Services Commission has openings for computer-savvy volunteers who can provide assistance with computer entry for clients (completion of forms). Dates and times are flexible. Volunteer services are provided at the Health and Human Services Commission office.

How do I join RSVP?
Becoming a member of RSVP is simple as long as you are at least 55 and have some time to volunteer. Just call the office at 743-77873 and chat with Karon McDowell about your interests. If you are not certain what you would like to do, we can mention several current volunteer opportunities and send you a list of the sort of jobs which RSVP members are presently doing to whet your appetite. If you have a special skill or talent that you would like to utilize, we will search to find just the right job for you. Just mail in the enrollment form (requires Adobe Reader) and we will call you!
